Fuel penalties¶
You should know that fuel calculation is very important in a commercial flight. When you get more fuel than necessary, your plane will consume more fuel, and when you get less, your flight will become risky. To avoid fuel penalties, you should keep the following in mind:
(1) When getting fueling, you should fill the wing tanks first, if much fuel is not needed, you should leave the centre fuel tank empty. If your wing fuel is 96% or less full and there is more than 12% fuel in the centre tank, FDR will charge a penalty.
(2) The amount of fuel in the wings should always be balanced. If there is a fuel difference of more than 10% of full capacity between the wings, FDR will charge a penalty.
(3) At the end of the flight, FDR will look at your remaining fuel and make the following evaluation:
-
Fuel at the start of the runway – fuel when taxi starts after landing = fuel consumed
-
Fuel remaining x time that passed / fuel consumed = fuel consumed per minute
-
If the remaining fuel is less than 30 minutes compared to the fuel consumed per minute, that is, if your remaining fuel is too small to keep you in the air for 30 minutes, a penalty will be charged.
-
If the remaining fuel is greater than 150 minutes according to the fuel consumed per minute, that is, the remaining fuel in your tanks is enough to make you fly for more than 2.5 hours, a penalty will be charged.
Warning
Penalties related to fuel consumption can be cancelled by Turkish Virtual management in aircraft models that have problems with tank detection due to software problems !
